Capricorn (魔杰座) (mo jie zuo)
Release Date: 15th October 2008
Overall Rating:
Jay Chou's ninth studio album, for the first time ever Jay Chou combines his interest in magic with his beloved music, the result is a fantastic album. With the theme of magic, cards figure significantly in the design of the album, from the first promotional poster to inspiration behind songs. Jay Chou wants to tell you the story of the battle between the Magician and the Joker. The title of the album in Chinese cleverly combines the three meanings - magic, Jay's name and the star sign Capricorn. All three are closely tied to Jay Chou himself. Magic is not the only theme of the album, the cover of the album, which took a month to complete, is based on a fantasy setting that is described in track 1.

Reviewed by asdfg. on 28th October 2008 Although i really love Jay Chou and find him absolutely talented, he is starting to irk me abit and somehow come across to me as "up-himself".
(i'm soory please don't shoot me ><" )
I mean, the songs are great, they are catchy, especially Mr Magic and Uncle Joker, however, have any of you watched the MV's for his new songs?
When i first heard his " Give Me The Time For One Song" i really loved it, he's voice was really cool and had an RNB feel to it, but his videa clip was really, really bad. It was of him just posing and dancing in a hotel room, which some hot chick posing randomly.
And he directed it himself.
I like old-time Jay Chou, the more shy version of him. He wasn't as sure of himself which made it kind of cute. And now his dancing in baggy pants and a cap, trying too hard.
But i guess, the MV's don't really matter, his music in this album are still pretty good, they're unique and have a good beat. I like mostly every single one of tem except for the Sea of Flowers because it sounds like he's chewing on something.
Im sorry if i have offended anyone, but this is what i think and i still love Jay no matter what :)
Reviewed by amorphs34 on 28th October 2008 I've been anxiously awaiting for my copy to arrive from yesasia for a while, and it just got here today. To be honest, I don't think it's his best album... But I think that can be attributed to the face that On the Run was so thoroughly amazing. I don't speak mandarin, so I can't say much about the lyrics (and his pronunciation doesn't bother me), so I listen for the melody and his singing. 花海 is my favourite. Overall, it's good album, and I'm happy with my purchase, but it's not his strongest album by far.
Reviewed by 小.J on 27th October 2008 I disagree with Nonstep actually. This album has really nice and yet simple melodies. All the melodies are also composed by Jay Chou. The melodies not only get the limelight, the lyrics are meaningful and it makes you want to read them. The songs touches the hearts of many and should be heard by everyone. Even non-JayChou-fans.Why must this album be a dissapointment? It's a really successful and great album! The most touching songs for me are: 花海 and 说好的幸福呢. It again involves love. But no, it doesn't and won't get boring. The other songs are also really good and cute too! Yes, I do recommend and I also bet that this album will blow everyone away.
Reviewed by Nonstep on 27th October 2008 Pretty much the same as his usual style for those who have enjoyed his previous albums. The lyrics, when you eventually bother to read them up they are good and meaningful however Jay Chou dissappoints again by not being able to pronounce the words clearly. The melodies of the songs are great but when the jumble and mumble of Jay gets added you have no idea what he is singing about and sadly ruins the great melody!
Reviewed by shenna on 27th October 2008 The best album in 2oo8.
You should buy this album, because there are so many good songs in this album.
Dao Xiang is the perfect song in this album, the melody is quite simple but the lyrics are so meaningful. The melody is very simple but very beautiful.
The best song in this album.
Shuo hao de xing fu ne, Gei wo yi shou ge de shi jian are my fav too, beacuse i love the melody.
